Holy Apostles College offers Dante's course led by Dr. Sebastian Mahfood for free this summer. They use Ciardi's translation, the reading load is one canto (one song/chapter) per day plus watching short video and the starting date is May 5th. We will follow their daily schedule and meet once a week to watch Dr. Esolen's video series done by Catholic Company for that week of reading, and discuss spiritual sense of the readings, connection with the Scriptures and selected saints' writings. 

Those who studied Screwtape Letters will find many connections.

1. Following daily readings and watching video from HAC 

2. Fridays, 12:00 - 1:30 pm, watching Dr. Esolen's lectures and discussion

May 9: 

Cantos 1-3: Where Are You Going, Traveler? 

Cantos 4-8: Loving Good Things in an Evil Way 

May 16: 

Cantos 9-12: Intellectual Terror

Cantos 13-17: A World of Violence

May 23:

Cantos 18-22: Liars and All Such Filth 

Cantos 23-27: The Fire of a Perverted Mind 

May 30:

Cantos 28-31: Destroying the Community of Man 

Cantos 32-34: When Hell Freezes Over 

 

Price: $5 plus signing up for bringing snacks (fresh fruit, sandwiches, muffins, drinks etc.)

Why so cheap? HAC course is free. (You have to register on their web site. If you want to receive their certificate of completion, you need to write five to seven 300 words essays).
